01
Who we are

SpendSense is a personal finance tracker app developed by buildsbyaman. The app is designed as a single-user, fully offline tool to help you understand where your money goes.

We are not a company with a legal entity, privacy officer, or data processing infrastructure. This policy exists because it's the right thing to publish — not because we're legally required to describe data pipelines we don't have.

02
Data we collect

None.

SpendSense does not collect or transmit your personal data to any server we operate. All information you enter into the app — transactions, budgets, wallet names, categories, everything — is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your own device.

The single exception is the optional Google Drive backup described below, which stores a copy of your data in your own Google Drive only when you choose to enable it. We do not run those backups through any server of ours.

We cannot see your data. We have no access to it. Even if we wanted to (we don't), we have no technical mechanism to retrieve it.

03
Analytics & tracking

SpendSense contains zero analytics SDKs, crash reporters, heatmap tools, or advertising networks. We do not use Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, Sentry, or any similar service.

We have no idea how many people use the app, how often they open it, or what features they use. That's intentional. We built SpendSense for you, not to understand you as a data point.

04
Internet & permissions

SpendSense works fully offline and makes no network calls on its own. There is no background sync, no analytics, and no crash reporting of any kind.

The only optional online feature is the Google Drive backup (section 05 below), which runs only when you start it. On supported devices the app can also use Face ID to lock the app, at your request.

The only reason the app might access your files is to let you export your data (as a PDF, Excel, or JSON file). Exports use your phone's share sheet — no storage permission is required. No data is sent anywhere during this process — the file goes only to your device.

05
Third-party services

SpendSense integrates with exactly one third-party service — and only because you choose to use it.

Google Drive backup. If you enable it, the app signs in to your Google account ("Sign in with Google") and stores backup files in your own Google Drive under Google's drive.file scope. We never receive, see, or store those files on any server of ours — they live under your Google account and can be deleted by you at any time. Google's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service govern that part of the service. Backups can be protected with a password you choose; without that password, the backup cannot be restored.

No other third-party services collect your data. There are no payment processors, advertising networks, social platforms, or data brokers.

This website (the marketing page you're reading right now) loads fonts from Google Fonts. That request reveals your IP address to Google's font servers, which is a standard CDN trade-off. The website itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

06
Your data, your control

Because all data lives on your device, you have absolute control over it at all times:

To export it: Use the Export tab in the app to save your data as a PDF, Excel (.xlsx), or JSON file to your phone's storage.

To delete it: Uninstall SpendSense from your device. This permanently removes the local database and all associated data. There is no recovery option because there is no backup on our side.

Google Drive backups: if you've used the optional backup feature, remember those files are stored in your Google Drive — uninstalling the app does not remove them. Delete them from your Drive (or from the Backup screen in the app) when you no longer need them.

There is no account to delete, no "right to erasure" request to submit, and no support email to write to. Your data is entirely self-contained.

07
Children's privacy

Since we collect no data from anyone, we by definition collect no data from children. SpendSense is a general-purpose budgeting tool appropriate for users of all ages. We have no age-gate mechanism because we have no accounts, sign-ups, or profiles.

08
Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Given that our policy is essentially "we collect nothing," we don't anticipate significant changes.

We will never change this policy in a way that begins collecting data without clearly announcing it on this page and in the app itself.

We genuinely welcome feedback about privacy. It's something we take seriously, even though (or especially because) our implementation of it is simply "do nothing."
